Spend a getaway weekend in Denali Park

Whether you live in Alaska or are planning a trip, a great way to spend the weekend (or create a weekend in the middle of the week!) is by riding the Alaska Railroad to Denali Park and staying overnight in a cozy cabin (I'm especially fond of the Denali River Cabins) or bed & breakfast, or even a luxury resort hotel like the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge. There are lots of great things to do in Denali Park, from river rafting on the Nenana River (both Denali Raft Adventures and Nenana Raft Adventures offer a great rafting trip), flightseeing tours that take you to the peak of Mt McKinley, lots of gift shops with Alaskan gifts to take home, and of course, wildlife tours that take you into Denali National Park.

Last weekend in Carlsbad

When I think of a nice long weekend, it almost always involves golf. We try to go at least twice a year, last weekend my brother and I went to Carlsbad, California and stayed at the Four Seasons Resort Aviara Golf Club - man, I love this place! The golf is spectacular, the rooms are luxurious - we got a suite and it was perfect. There are other great golf courses in Carlsbad, La Costa Resort is another favorite. Next time we go, though, I want to be sure and go to Biplane, Air Combat, and and Warbird Adventures and fly in a vintage open cockpit biplane, talk about a rush!

Phoenix is calling me for adventure and relaxation!

Have you ever been up in a hot-air balloon? I've always wanted to try that, so next time I go to Phoenix, it's on my list of things to do. I'm thinking about using Unicorn Balloon Company, and not just because I like the name :) Plus they offer combination tours with rafting and horseback riding - talk about adventure!

Or maybe a Hummer tour - now that's a much better use for a Hummer than commuting, don't you think? Arizona Hummer Tours looks good, but what girl in her right mind wouldn't want to take a jeep tour with Pink Jeep Tours? Either way, explore the Sonoran Desert, the Grand Canyon, and more.

After a hard day of adventuring, I'd want some relaxation at a Phoenix day spa - a massage, a facial (a day in the sun's hard on my fair skin!) maybe a pedicure... you only live once, right?

I always wanted to be a race-car driver, didn't you?

NASCAR fans will love a weekend in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. They call it "The Racing Side of Charlotte" and I tell you - it's a race fan's dream. Tour race shops like Dale Earnhardt Inc. andRoush Racing, catch a race at Lowe's Motor Speedway, and visit the Hendrick Motorsports Museum. The Richard Petty Driving Experience lets you drive - how fun is that? If you've always wanted to be a race-car driver, here's your chance! Plan a weekend trip to Kannapolis, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, and walk The Dale Trail - a tribute to racing legend Dale Earnhardt.
